1989 single cab 5 speed 2.9 4x4. Trying to install remote start and there's a wire that's supposed to go to a "parking brake wire" but I can't find one. Does anyone know where it would be or the amount of voltage so I can fool the remote start system into working. Any help would b great.

Have you looked near the parking brake pedal? That is usually where I find the parking brake wire. It's purple/black with a spade connector on the end.

I feel stupid it was hiding really well but I got it. Remote start still not working -_-

Whats going on? I put a remote start in my 1993 5 speed. I even made a neutral safety switch for it. Crap I forgot to post how I did that...

You should post it I'd be interested in this

I should be able to made a video and post it. I have't decided if I want to tear it apart or just explain how I did it.

if you want to disable the MAIN safety mechanism of the remote start system, please just put a gun in your mouth right now and pull the trigger before your hacked truck accidentally starts and runs over someone.

if you want to do it right, find the brake pedal, then follow that to what it mounts to. from there, you will see a switch and a couple wires going to it. one is feed and one is 12v+ when the pedal is depressed.

please dont put 12v+ to the "brake" input on the remote start in hopes of "just getting it working". its dangerous to circumvent engineered safety mechanisms, and it also wont even work because the remote start system needs to see the brakes in action in order for it to work anyway

The parking brake operates on the negative side. Not the positive
