So the new engine has been running...and it runs STRONG. Pulls great, idles great...but is noisy.
The lifters (sounds like 2 or 3) are bleeding down (overnight or after say a few hours) and clacking away at immdiate startup for just a second or 2. After the truck warms up, they sound like crap at idle. The old engine didn't even sound like this.
Also, the rear main seal started to leak a bit ALREADY...so pissed off.
I sent the company an email and they called the very next first AM...he asked me what I wanted to do so I asked him what he would propose. He said he'd build me another motor and send it to me, then I send this one back...plus, he'd cut me a check (didn't say how much) for my labor hour troubles getting this thing changed out again.
The engine was already sent back the first time b/c the heads were supposedly cut so bad my lower intake manifold fit perfectly flush between the heads...well, this left no room for the ntake gaskets...the intake wouldn't bolt down flush with the heads once the gaskets were installed. I still think they had the wrong heads on it, but they claim these heads were just cut wrong. Apparently thry're aftermarkets that are much more stout and less prone to cracking than the originals.
Any ideas what would be causing these lifters to bleed down? Didn't check oil pressure with a gauge, just going by the dummy gauge. But oil pressure wouldn't have anything to do with the lifters bleeding down once the truck is turned off, right? What, in your opinion, would be an acceptable reinbursement for my labor in all of this? In my email I told him 25 hours of my time, so I don;t know what to accept or not accept. Thanks as usual.
