Here is what I did : I jumped the + and - Cables from the Battery ( after disconecting the negative clamp from Battery) over night. ( I have a Manual 5 Speed)
Then i started the engine and she was going to shut off. I did read something, somewhere, that we should not touch the gas pedal in the beginning of the relearning process. It said just let it idle. I kept that in mind. NOT TO TOUCH THE GASPEDAL. I started the engine and she was going to die. I was attempted to step on the gas, but I didn't . I let the engine die. I then restarted the engine after the Airbag light shut of ( i waited every time until the Airbag light shut of before I restarted) . All together about 20 times did I restart the engine. Everytime the Engine started to stal and I was really attempted to step on the gas , but I didn't. What I realized was, the engine run better and better , every time I started . After about 20 Restarts, the engine stayed on. Not a single time did I steped on the Gas . (It is hard not to step on it, because......that's what we do when the engine stalls.) Then, after the engine was warm, I drove around 60 Miles on winding Roads , so that the Computer had a lot of shifting to learn. I got the Truck like 4 weeks ago and it run the best since I got the Truck. After the Engine cooled down, I started again, but the rough Idling is back. I've to fix 2 more vacuum hoses . When I got the Truck, the Seller told me, he installed a new IAC. No markings on the IAC. No number or maker Name. So i got a Dephie IAC from Amazone and installed it before I did the relearn process. But, I'll take the IAC, that I took out , and put it back in and try my way of relearning the Comp. I'm sure it will work with any after market IAC. Just don't step on the Gas untill you are ready to drive. I know it's hard, just tape your right leg with Ductape to the Shifter....lol
You know, they always talk about .......RELEARNING..........that does not happend in a Minute or so. Here is my thinking about it. When we put the new IAC in, the Computer has to start adjusting that Valve that we see before we install the IAC. Many times i read, but it's open and doesn't close all the way. The Delphi looked like that too. But I'm sure when we start relearning the Comp, the Comp will adjust the Valve untill it is in the right Position. To do that, that Comp try's multiple setup's untill it reaches the right set point and that takes a few minutes. Because the Comp is adjusting the Valve, we can not step on it and we have to let the comp figure it out on his own. Just make sure your Battery is fuely charged. I didn't do any of the "Learning Modes" with AC On and Off or the First Gear thingy. I check the Owner Manuell what it says about, what to do after the BAttery is changed. I simply followed the guidance in the manual. The Manuel is probaly the best way to figure out what to do with your specific Car, because I've read about 12 different Version's on how to relearn the Comp. So I came up with my own, the 13th Version.....lol
