Relays bleeding power?

Do relays bleed power when not activated? I went to go start my truck this morning (added lights on a relay the other day) and all I got was click. I drove it plenty after putting the lights on and it started on monday. I think I may just put a simple switch between the battery and the relay if this is the problem.

Putting a switch between the battery and the relay negates the purpose of the relay... I've never had a problem with my relay, heck, I've never had a battery quit on me.

are you sure you got the relay wired correctly?

I'm pretty sure its wired correctly... Can anyone post a pic of the proper wiring so I can be sure? I threw an empty fuse holder into the circuit between the battery and the relay to prevent future power bleed.

A properly attached relay will not drain the battery, unless the control circuit is energized. If the control circuit is left energized, that is the drain, not the relay.

Key word properly. I mixed up the power and the switch circuits. My bad. But everything else was connected right.
