Looking to switch from 3.31's to 3.55's, and I am trying to find a decent price for a set of gears. I don't want junk, but I don't want to spend a fortune either.

Any ideas where to look?

That gear change will barely be noticeable...I'm guessing this is for the f150 in your sig?

I would go to at least 3.73's if you are wanting to make a change.

Yeah, it is my F-150. The factory ratio for tires very close to the size I am getting was 3.55 from the factory. If I have the choice I would rather keep the RPM's a tad on the lower side to help with the milage.

Plus my brother is regearing his, and he has 3.55's now. Right now the plan is to trade front pigs and only have to by half of the front (out of fairness) and the rear... which is proving to be an ellusive little bugger and incredibly expensive so far when found. Randy's wants over $700 for a set, if that is the best out there I will for sure be shopping for a different ratio (probably 3.73's if they are better priced) 9.75's are looking to be kinda tough to find gears for compared to a 8.8.

The TRS "Gears needed after adding larger tires" calculator says that 3.65 gears would be ideal, which is right between 3.55 and 3.73... so I think 3.55's would be ok, my 3.31's are just barely higher than its high recomendation which I agree with. I am not going crazy with tires (255/75-17's) or towing a freight train (7000ish)

235/70-16's are 29"DIA and 255/75-17's are 32"DIA

Well, I am thinking that I might as well wait and go with 3.73's. I got my 255/75-17 BFG MT's mounted up and the difference between them and the 265/70/17's that came with my rims was surpising, aparently the 5/8" of an inch or whatever the difference is between the two was the straw that broke the camels back... and if I am doing it I might as well go whole hog and set up right the first time.

Yesterday for the first time EVER since I got the truck 5 years ago it wouldn't run locked in overdrive at my normal 72mph cruising speed on the interstate with a pretty stiff headwind. :shok:

At any rate, I really need to get done with my 302 swap so these 3.31's can get switched out. :icon_thumby:
