seats need recovered and interior needs a good cleaning but not to bad for its age

And the golfball (went through a hailstorm and it has more dimples than you can count) Its also my DD, with 212xxx miles on it. Hopefully will be trading this in on something new shortly (4cyl foxbody, Windstar, or Crown Vic)

The Aweful green interior, I tend to keep it packed full of trash so no one can see it.

And the car that made me want a Foxbody (this one is in the process of getting ready for paint now) we put a set of junk 12" wheels and tires off my festiva on it for a burnout competition at his car show. Car sat so low we broke both rear exhaust hangers taking for a test "ride"

Picked up a set of Leather Explorer Buckets out of a 1st gen explorer, For FREE(best luck I've had in years) and i didnt even have to take them out. A friend put his explorer into a tree at about 35mpg did a number on the truck but he gave me the seats and is using the ex as storage right now. When ever he hauls it off i'm also getting a free sunroof.

he put an explorer into a tree at 35mpg? lol man all our explorers didnt get anywhere near that good!

Well worked out a deal with dad, i am going to give him my taurus in exchange for the parts and labor to redo most of the motor on the ranger. Just waiting for us to get an opening in the shop schedule to pull it in. I also took the camper shell off and put the tool box back on.

Right now i am working on a mock up for a custom grill (Old one was damaged pretty bad so it's being used as a mock up) just waiting on the dremel to cool down (Had no idea it could get that hot). And no i don't have any pics for this update just thought i would make all 2 of the people following this wonder what is happening.

Well time to get this thread up to speed I guess, sold the SHO got $400 and a Festiva out of it that i was using as my dd for awhile. Then I got a Windstar got it for $375 and it has working air, only thing that doesn't work it the passenger window won't roll dow. Think I am going to sell the Windstar (I'm 20 with no kids and single and the minivan look doesn't work so good on the ladies), use the money from it to getting some stuff done on the ranger and maybe fix the air in my Taurus.

The biggest news though is that i have the motor pulled out of the Ranger (I was going to do a 302 swap but I don't think it would reallly be my truck if it wasn't underpowered) I have parts ordered to do an almost full rebuild (not putting new pistons, rods, or crank in it and the valves are fine so not messing with head right now but everthing else will be new). I had to order a new radiator (some effin thieves stole mine) so looks like it is going to be sitting at stock height a little while longer. I should have some of my parts in today and the rest should be in about monday. Problem is that it is to hot to really do anything right now, need to clean the motor up so i can paint it but the only time you can really paint right now is like 10pm. But I am atleast making progress on it, might order me both floor pans after awhile and start on the body work, sucks trying to pay for college and build a truck, and survive all at once. I will get some pics up when I finally get around to painting and assembling the motor and enginge compartment.

Well i ended up having to replace one piston, now i am in need of the spacer that goes behind the crankshaft pulley (when the motor got moved around it got misplaced somehow, naturally it got moved around when i wasn't there) and i still need to find a better carb (hopefully will get one sunday).

The main thing holding me up is the weather, I need to do some paint work before i put the motor in place but it has been to hot to do any sort of painting (hopefully tommorow will be cool enough in the morning though)

Purple Power is a great way to remove single stage paint (found that out the hard way)

Here is the proof that it is to hot to paint, if it is hot enough to melt the resin out of the idle control module i think it is to hot to do a lot of work.

Also the motor is painted (international red and white, to match the truck. i know some people feel it is a color dedicated to chevys but i don't care what they think) It is going to suck to keep it clean, it already has some stains on the white but i knew that would happen when i painted it that color. Will try to post pics up of the engine later.

The engine is assembled just needing to put the ditributor in and put the crank pulley on (waiting for spacer) and put a good carb on it when i find one on the cheap. Will take pictures when i get back to the shop, thought i had some on my phone but i didn't.

Also got a couple of shifter knobs to try out, just need to decide which i like the best. They probably aren't what you think they are I went old school with them, like 40s and 50s old school.

Well i got the engine compartment painted, painted it with zero hours of sleep in 2 days. It doesn't look the best but when I put the hood on and cast a shadow over it i think it will be good enough for an engine compartment. I didn't get any pictures due to the fact that i was more interested in getting home and getting some sleep. But i used the duplicolor paint shop system, i didn't clear it though because of how terribly it was spraying, I think i got a bad can of paint (small town and stock sits around sometime, and duplicolor has everything coded so you can't figure out when it was mixed) But i was in a hurry and needed to get something on it, Worse comes to worse when i swap this motor into mom and dads anniversary present i will repaint when i put the turbo motor in it.

Here are some pictures of the motor most assembled, it has a little more white than i was originally plannning on using but oh well. It also isn't nearly as dirty as the pictures make it out to be, don't why they came out that was.

Should be getting a carb from a friend on sunday and will hopefully get the engine set in the truck this weekend.

Does anyone have a picture of the spacer/timing belt retainer for the crank pulley? that way i can use at as reference for asking people.

Also any suggestions for decent sound exhaust on this truck, everything i find has sounded more like a honda than a truck.

Does anybody have a crankshaft pulley and the spacer/washer that goes behind it? needing one badly.

Also got the motor put in yesterday and some wires run but still have a lot to do, pics soon.

I thought I read that you was going to v8 this truck?!?

posted using spell check.

I was planning on it but with gas prices on the rise again and being a full time student this was the more economical route to go. Later on I plan on pulling this motor (to put into a courier for mom and dad) and putting a 2.3T in it's place.

Anybody have a decent suggestion for a carb for this motor, not wanting to spend a ton of money on it and not wanting to do a lot of mods to make it work. What is a good CFM rating to go with for this motor, it is bored 0.040 but everything else is stock.

I got almost everything done now comes the fun part, the wiring harness got messed up awhile back.

So does anyone have the pin layouts for the plugs that come out of the firewall right by the steering shaft, i think there is 3 or 4 of them. If I can figure out where they go i shouldn't have too much problems making a new harness (going to try to get rid of a lot of useless crap in the harness anyways)

Also does anybody know what the wiring looks like on the distributor, it was messed up and there are only 2 wires in it right now but me and dad thought it originally had a 3 wire set up.

The truck is a 1986 Ford Ranger that originally had a 2.0l with no power options.
