K I have a 5 speed carb 2.0 with no tach n I just rebuilt the engine n I dont want to over rev it so I'm gonna install a tech n I need to know what to set the trach at.please help ty

the FI'd 2.3's have the rev limit set at 6000 or 6200 which is safe so I'd do that

^^^ x2 set it at 6,000

if i wanna go fast i shift at 4500, if im driving normally i shift at 3000 from 1-2 and 2-3 but 3500 for 3-4 and dont put it in 5 till i get up to speed... thats in my 2.3

The 2.0 and 2.3 both fall flat powerwise beyond 5300 or 5500. Going beyond that is just making noise and wearing parts. Set it at 5500. Or if you want to be safe lower.

for those without tachometers, like my current truck, the 2.3 Ranger with about 3.27 to 3.73 gearing hits 5500 at just a hair under 30 in first, just under 50 in second, 65 in third.

and if your redlining in fourth your speeding so I wont even list it. I've never redlined fifth, as the 2.3 Ranger(at least the two I've owned) aren't capable of 160 LOL.
