hello, i have my 08 ranger 4.0l and i'm looking around for a throttle body spacer and complete intake. is anyone running one? what make and how do you like it or can someone recoment one to me. i've been looking at airaid and they make a quick fit kit but i really want the tube to. and afe makes a spacer but i heard airaid was the best. can anyone offer some advice please? and also i would like to run a set of headers as well can anyone recomend some.

thanks

Jeremy

I would recommend against the tb spacer. They do little to nothing.

Both are designed to part you with your money. The factory system is already a much better 'cold air' system than the ridiculous aftermarket kits. They look interesting under the hood and sound different, but that's the end of it.

the only thing you really get out of a tb spacer and an intake would be noise. i would save your money. hedman headers makes a set for rangers

There is actually one thing a TB spacer is good for...

And I regret not grabbing one I saw on a junkyard truck recently...

What is that one thing? it's the perfect thing to drill a hole in to mount a Nitrous fogger nozzle.

I had a cold air intake and on my old ranger and they do in fact actually work. I increased my power and mileage a bit. Factory intakes are a good diameter untill it gets to the air filter box, then the inlet hole ( below the filter ) gets really small ( restricted air flow )! Go with K&N.

I'm getting ready to add a cold air intake to my 02 Ranger and duel exhaust.

Cold Air Intakes really do work, which is PROBABLY why Ford designed the truck with one... that you TOOK OFF to replace it with someone else's Cold air intake...

The JBA's are awesome. The fir and finnish is perfect. You will pay though. They aren't cheap! Stay away from the Paccecrappers. To really make headers work though, you have to go all the way through the intake (heads/valves/cam) and exhaust.

Borla's are also nich, but sadly disontinued...

Not that I'm that sad about it, I've already got mine.

if you wanna get more airflow without changing the whole intake, just put a k&n replacement filter in the factory filter box, and cut the front of the filter box out, you know, make the hole bigger. i cut the whole front of the box out on mine, added a k&n box filter, and not only noticed a power gain, but the rumble you get when you jump on the throttle is awesome. it turns heads. my wife says it sounds kinda like a v8 comin up the road.

I am running an airaid quick-fit system on my truck.. slightly less lag in the throttle response and more intake noise is what i got from it...i still have yet to figure if any improvements in MPG's have taken place with its addition and my gibson exhaust but i highly doubt it. do the airbox mod from the tech library and a catback, that will give you a bit more noise and thats about all your going to get from those mods any how...only nice thing is the look when you pop the hood...but that only gets you so much and the price kinda sucks :(

Cutting holes in the air box lets HOT engine compartment air into the box...
