My first engine swap went well until I started the engine. I have a bunch of chattering coming from the trans area. I pulled the starter and the tops of the teeth are nicked up. I need to remove the flexplate and tc and start over. My question is. would it be easier to move the trans back or pull the motor again? Never pulled the trans so Im not sure whats involved. Thanks for any advise.

I had the same issue with my first 3.0 swap we went to a windstar motor and there was a horrible squeel like the starter was still engaged. 1 starter shim later problem solved. Advance has a shim on the shelf that fits the bolt pattern.

Pulled the trans and found the problem, Flexplate bolts were not tight causing it to move enough to chatter against the starter. Lesson learned, Hopefully. Back to the drawing board. Thanks for all the help from the forum. I wouldn't have got this far.
