Go to any place that sells audio, and have a listen to what they have on there board, then either buy local or look on line for a cheaper price.
That a great head unit for the price, but why not the KD-A805? Its the cheapest HU you can find with a Burr-Brown DAC.

Wrecking Crew, nice choice on the HU! I almost got that one, but got the 805 that Flyingbrick mentioned instead, and I absolutely love it!!! I know you'll be happy with that one. Even the factory speakers sounded great powered by the JVC. You might want to get speakers but wait on the amp to see how it sounds. If you get good speakers, they'll handle the power an amp can throw at it, but if you hold off on the amp you might decide you don't need one. It's been a while since I've dealt with 6.5" speakers. The last ones I bought were about 5 years ago. They were Polk, and were excellent. I personally don't judge how a speaker sounds in a store, because it's completely different than a car environment. I go by the specs, brand, and reviews. If you understand all the technical stuff about speakers, you'll be safe making a choice based on the numbers.

One other thing....
Obviously the choice is up to you, but I'd suggest at least considering the 805 if you haven't bought the other one already. Like I said, I was leaning toward the one you're looking at, but ended up with the 805 for a few reasons. The one you're looking at only has 2 sets of preamp outs, where the 805 has 3. Also, the display on the 805 is MUCH nicer. While the 59 has HD radio built in, as well as a 7 band graphic EQ (the EQ was the main reason I almost got that one) if you compare them side by side, the 805 is better to me. But like I said, the 59 is going to be an awesome receiver anyway!

you guys are assholes.......:icon_rofl::icon_rofl: now ill be up all night tryin to decide:icon_twisted:
i might go for the 805.........but then theres the extra 69 bucks(after discount) for it

just read the specs on both radios again, both have the digi to anolog thingy

You'll be happy either way. The main differences are:

The 59 has a 7 band graphic EQ. The 805 has a 3 band parametric. The 7 band obviously will give you more control, but I'm actually happy with the 3 band. It's not as "simple" as it sounds, you can actually tweak the settings quite a bit more than you'd think.

The 59 has front USB. The 805 has front/rear USB. I wanted a receiver that had both aux/USB on the front. I didn't think I'd use the rear USB when I got my 805, but it's actually the only one I use! It has a 4' cord, and I fed it into the glove box and connected it to a 100GB hard drive. I love not having any cords visible!

The 59 has HD radio built in., 805 does not, but you can get it as an option. That's up to you how important that is. I almost never listen to the radio, so I didn't care.

The 805 has built in bluetooth. If you have a bluetooth phone, you can make calls through the HU, with the callers voice coming through the car speakers. I also have a Pocket PC that can stream music to the HU wirelessly. Bluetooth is not an option for the 59.

As I mentioned the 805 has 3 sets of preamp outs. The 59 has 2. With the 59, you can still hook up an amp and sub, but you won't have fader control for the front/rear speakers. With the 805, you can have a 4-channel amp with fader control, and a sub.

The 805 has a slightly stronger tuner and will suck in stations a bit better.
Other than that, they're pretty much the same. Both are awesome! I hope this helps, and doesn't make the choice harder!

i might get the 805. the hd is for when im bored with my ipod or if a girl who hates what i listen to gets in the car. anything is an upgrade from chevys stock parts

I bought a set of speakers online once sight unseen, and I'll NEVER do it again, every time i have heard them in store they turned out great in my truck or car, because if they sound like crap in store they will almost never sound better in your truck.

Burr-Brown is a company that makes DACs (Digital to Analog Converter). A DAC does as it's name implies converting your digital signal into an analog signal so your speakers can move and therefore make sound. your normal HU has an in house DAC which is OK at the best of times, where even a Burr-Brown can make your CDs MP3's and what not come to life.

for 6.5 speakers are you lookin for a compnent set (has tweeter seperate) or a coaxial set?...if a component set i recommend Pheonix Gold RSDs....can be had for ~$80 on ebay....then onthe 4x6s i would get these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ROCKFORD-FOSGAT...kers?hash=item20acb5afa5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

and i would personally get a amp for them all. Just look for an amp (some reliable cheap brands are: Hifonics, and Fusion) that puts out ~50 wrms x 4 @ 4 ohms....

j/k I could buy a car for there prices I used to do installs check out diamond audios stuff I had my tahoe packed with there hex lineup and the only real comparison was the mid grade focals which where $1000 for a component set even diamonds mid grade is very high quality for a good deal
