Just got my 1988 a4ld tranny back from vo tech. The mechanic that is installing it in my 1989 bronco II , got it installed and said there was no reverse , what could be the problem, they totally rebuilt the tranny.

does it have low? take it back to who rebuilt it and tell them to fix it right.

did they do soft parts only, or hard parts also.
dont know ANYTHING about the rebuilds, but it sounds like they did soft only.
:dunno:

If evrything else works but reverse then the reverse band isn't seated correctly. Take it back and have them fix it right.

I would take it back and have them rebuild the whole thing. It probley smoked the reverse band and it is burnt now and all that friction material is through the tranny. Just my two cents.
