rebuilding a champion winch

hey does anybody here have any experience with rebuilding winches specificly champion? my buddy had an 8000lb winch an i think he said hte motor went in it so he got the champion 9500lb.
i dont wanna go get a new one i know trs has them for under $300 but i cant afford that. does it cost much to rebuild a winch? can you get rebuild kits? thanks

use that $300 for a starting to save up for a warn...a 8000 pound warn is only $750 or so. i bought a warn of kijiji for $500 best thing i ever did. a great, quick spooling winch.

Go to Smittybilt's site and check on them. I think we have them on this site as well. I thought I saw them for sale in the Parts area on the top of the web page. Nothing wrong with the XRC8000....

I dont mean to sound like a dick, but im sorry, unless somebody gives you a winch, or you come across a killer deal, you are NOT going to source a winch, and get everything you need to install it, and mount it.

if the motor burned out, take it to a electric motor shop!

I know a couple guys that have had those come apart on them, the motors are full of cheap plastic junk that just melts and falls apart when used hard.

thanks guys but im gonna go for the XRC8 from here. $330 shipped is not as much as i would pay for a brand new superwinch 8500lb here and i would trust the xrc8 more
