The A/C compressor cycles on and off randomly whenever the truck is on and A/C is off. No one is touching the ac controls. Has anyone here had a similar problem and how did you fix it? I'm not a big fan of computers, I sought out a truck with manual transmission manual transfer case crank windows and now one of the few electrical components is failing. This problem appears to have been happening since I bought the truck this summer and who knows how long before that.

So, just that you’re aware, the AC will cycle when you’re using the defrost setting whether you’re using AC or not, the idea is to keep the pump lubricated in the winter and to dry the air so the defrost works better.

my 03 ac does it also. ac is in the off position and you can hear it cycle every once in a while

Interesting, nice to know my truck is not broken (at least not that part of it).
I switched the HVAC from defrost to floor and it indeed seems to have stopped, thanks for the help.
The reason I was asking is that my IAC is going out and sometimes after it raises the idle for the A/C compressor it sticks on and idles high.
