What's the book time for a carrier swap ( open to a L/S ) ? I'd like to be a little informed when I farm this job out in a day or two. Having absolutely no idea, I'd guess 3 hrs or so ( heavy on the so ) Vehicle is an 89 Ranger, 5 speed manual trans with an open 3:45 at the present time.

** if anyone is interested in the open carrier ( tad over 15,000, Original miles, never abused ) yes, 15,000, not 150,000 miles, send me a pm. You won't buy one in better shape unless you buy new.

I would say around 2-3 hours for just swapping of the carrier (not swapping gears).

If it were me, I'd swap those 3.45 gears out too though (in which case it's probably around 3-4 hours labor).

Thanks, thats a help. I'll probably leave the 3:45 gears in it ( has a manual five speed ) only because I drive to Ohio and back ( 800 miles ) every month on Interstate 80 and get decent ( 23 to 26 depending on how much over the speed limit I go ) mileage. The 2.9 seems to have plently of pep, even up long slight hills like the NE Pa. Turnpike ( 7 percent grade I think ) without having to shift back into 4th gear.

It took me about 8 hours but I had to go through a bunch of other bullshit for my locker...
