I have searched for a long time on this subject... cant find an answer :annoyed:

Some background info: I have a 96 single cab DD and a 93 Ext Cab i got for parts. The Ext Cab has a sliding back window... my single cab does not.

I want to put the slider in my single cab... but i happened to be looking in an LMC Catalog...and when in the rear window section there is an option for Ext. Cabs and an option for Single Cabs... This has given me some doubts. Are the two windows different? And if so how are they different? They look the same to me...

Yes the windows are different
93-97 std cabs have a different shape
93-10 ext cabs and 98-10 std. cabs share the same window shape and size

Shit!! :bawling:

I'd ask why, but the answer is that auto engineers don't think logically like normal people (or at all).

Oh well... guess I'll try and sell both trucks' back windows (and all the windows out of the ext cab) and get a std cab window.

I'd say stay away from the sliding window, they always seem to be missing some glass. Our 98 came with a sliding window but one piece was broken, couldnt find any complete sliders at the junkyard, so went with a one-piece, looks a lot cleaner. :D

I dont know what truck my window came from, it was on a glass rack at the junkyard, but it did have one mounting stud extra which made it not "fit" our SuperCab. Ripped the stud out and it fit perfectly. Gotta love how they engineer a part to "fit" only one vehicle with simple changes, and a big price different too I bet. :annoyed:

I would buy a new window if i did swap... unless i could find a really nice junkyard/craigslist window.

I am going to pull the slider from the truck...but i dont really have a way of comparing it exactly to the one in my single cab truck...seeing as it is more or less my DD...and its damn near winter. :dunno:

I have been told that all standard cabs from '83-'97 use the same back glass. Not sure if it is true, but might be some good info to make your search easier.

From inside the trucks the windows look different. The plastic trim pieces are designed different for sure. But from the outside they look the same. Does anyone know of a place i could find the dimensions of the two?
