I have a 2000 Ranger extended cab....I recently busted out theback window. its too new to get it at any junk yards around here so I have to either buy it online or at a dealer. cheapest I can get it from a dealer is almost 300 bucks. I found it online for 115. now I'm not sure what all I need to replace it. I only broke out the middle section of the slider, so is it possible to just replace the broken middle section? or do I need to remove the entire window and replace it as one solid unit?

I had to do mine as a unit.. Got one from some ass hat on the Net. He said it was the right year...... It wasnt.. It was for a gen two.. Ended up getting a new window for $220. Also you will need the panel darts, because they are very dificult to pull out without breaking. Your going to have to pull all the plastic pannels out of the rear window area to get to the bolts that hold the window in. darts are cheep though. Its a couple hours of labor if you have never done it before. But doing it your self is way cheeper than paying someone to do it.

I thought the bastards were glued in... I learn something nearly everyday on the Ranger forum...

ok cool....I'll take a look at it this weekend. you think there is an easy way to get the center section in without having to remove the entire window frame?

Nope, unfortinatly I dont think there is. Im not sure you can only replace only the center section. Sometimes they design the whole pice so if one breaks, you have to change the whole asembly. Did you find an intact center window already out of the frame???? In any case good luck...

Some rangers my have glued in ones, as far as I know the gen3 super cabs are bolt in. I only know from replacing my rear window on my truck. Its a 94.

Center section? As in the center sliding window? When I first bought my '94 Ranger the center window was smashed out and replaced with a piece of plexiglass, I went up to the junkyard and after bending and dissecting a window I figured out that you CAN replace just the center window (on a gen 3 in my case). From what I remember I think that all I had to do is apply a slight bend to the bottom track while pushing in on the glass and it went right in. I only did it because I didn't feel like pulling out the whole window at the time but it figures that a month later I find a truck at the yard with a full set of really nice tinted glass and ended up pulling it anyway to install the tinted window which actually costed less than buying a roll of tint!

haha...gotta love auto salvage.but yes I am buying a complete window but I was trying to get away from having to get the whole back window re-tinted. but it sounds like its a solid frame around the window. I guess I'll have to see if I can get alil play outta it without making it weak.

If you have a u-pull-it yard in your area then go to it and experiment with windows. If you break one in there then it's not as bad as breaking the one in your truck. Alot of what I have learned comes from just going to the junkyard and experimenting with stuff.
