rear window replacement

Hi all, I'm looking to replace the rear window (stationary)on my 07 ranger XLT supercab with a sliding back window. Some have told me that only the original window can be replaced due to the track for the slider. Also, there is no rubber seal around this window so I must use silicon sealant.
Anyone on the forum have any insight on this project?

I was shopping around for mine. Ended up finding a local mobile auto glass guy who wa able to find me a nice used OEM glass. I found a few on fleabay but was skeptical on it arriving not broken. The guy took about an hour or two and i am very happy with the price and result.

I have an old thread about it where the guys replied with some good suggestions and specifications of year differences.

It's likely not silicone but butyl, you can replace the window yourself but you have to pull the trim around the inside of the window to get to the nuts that hold it in since the windows have studs. Conveniently if you go to a junkyard and find any extended cab Ranger from I think '86 through '11 it will fit and you can throw in '98-11 regular cab Rangers too since they switched to that window... on an '07 it will likely have 10 studs where the older ones have I think 8 but all the holes are in the same place they just added two more.

You can sometimes find that "Butyl rope" that's needed to seal the window in auto parts stores, it's in a square box about a foot square and an inch thick or it's on Amazon

The window is an assembly, the frame is integral and has the studs sticking out that will bolt in.
