Have a small leak on the passenger side rear window of my '98 ext. cab. Noticed a small wet spot on the carpet under back window after a heavy rain. Took trim out around back window and it appears to be coming from where the body seam meets the rear window gasket on the top corner of the rear window. It's such a small spot, that it is hard to believe that is where the water is getting in. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you fix it?

Thanks for any help

Have you checked your third brake light? They leak a lot there also and can make it look like its leaking other places

I am gonna guess you guys are right considering the previous owner removed the cargo light because he had a camper top on it. There is a heavy strip of adhesive backed vinyl over the opening and it "appears" to be well sealed....but I am going to go ahead and order a replacement light.
My question is, I have found several used on Ebay, but some are the combo cargo/3rd brake light. Anyone know what a '98 ext. cab 2wd came with, or does it matter which one I put back on? Also do these lights have a gasket or do I just use sealant?

Thanks for the help.

Your 98 probably had the one with cargo lights. They do have a gasket on them that is only available with the light assembly, I found that out when mine leaked and stained my headliner. You could probably make one easy enough though.

Well, after eliminating cargo light, paying glass guy $80 to remove rear glass and reseal & taking out headliner, found the culprit. You guess it....the seam under the trim pieces above rear side windows is leaking. Although the paint is in good shape on this truck, there is a little flaking right behind these. Has anyone taken these off and know how they seal? I see the nuts on the inside holding the piece on and they are not leaking, so I am assuming it is a seam. Any help is appreciated.

Ok, removed trim pieces and found small pinhole right behind stud closest to back window. Looks like a defect from factory as there is no rust in this area. Thought I would post results in case anyone else has a similar leak.

Are you able to locate and fix the leak without taking out the window or headliner. Did you ever get any photos of your process?
