rear view mirror swap wiring

Swapped 01 Rear view mirror with temperature and auto dimming into my 02 xl, how do I go about wiring everything up, what do I need besides the temp sensor... thanks

Temp sensor mounts outside, probably on the radiator support facing the bumper. To wire it up you need to figure out what each wire does or else find a wiring diagram.

I am not an authoritative resource on the matter, but I did not think any Ranger ever came with that, so it was probably aftermarket or swapped in from another car or truck.

could be bought it off ebay, it was listed as out of a 01' maybe it came from an explorer..

If you check the overhead council modification I think you will find the temp sensor mounts in front by the radiator.

It sure does. If the mirror didnt come with the temp sensor you can go to a salvage yard and yank on from an explorere. It is located on the front LEFT side of the radiator, not the RIGHT side like is posted in the Tech Library OHC Mod. It is a siimple install, just get the little whitle christmas tree mount also and it will push into an existing hole to the right of your radiator.

He isn't doing an OHC mod. He has a mirror with temperature display built in, if I'm reading his post correctly. That's why I think it's an aftermarket.

well in his second post he asks "anyone know where the temp sensor mounts?" So I would think he is refering to an external temp sensor not a built in one. The display is built in to the mirror but the sensor is not. Not having a pic of the mirror with its attached wiring I can only assume it is the same two wire set up as the OHC. Therefore the sensor used for the OHC should work and in the same general location. Unless im just all ass'd up

Right, but if it's an aftermarket mirror, there's no telling what sensor you might need, an Expo OHC one may not work.

im pretty sure its a oem mirror, it looks like it has the sensor for the auto dimmer, looks like it also mounts to the windshield..

Can you post a photo of it? I'm not aware of any OEM Ranger/Explorer mirrors from the early 2000's having a temperature readout on it (and only Explorers had autodimming mirrors stock). A readout on the OHC is a way different thing, and that would be stock.
