Has anyone ever put rear tow hooks on their 07 or equivalent?

I just can't figure out where they might go unless I get a hidden hitch bolted to the frame and then drill them into that?

I just don't know how I'm gonna tug it from behind....

Advice for a rookie?

I know mine is an '85 but I usually use the receiver hitch with a pin and a clevis.

Thanks, that's what I think will end up being my solution.

Install a hidden hitch type set-up and then I can do just that, run a strap through the receiver with a clevis pin to keep it there....

I use a ball mount without the ball, and put the pin thru the hole with a clevis. You can also get specific receiver inserts that already have this done.

What I use:

A receiver hitch is the way to go, because it spreads the force to both frame rails instead of just one.

You can either do the ball mount with a clevis, buy one set up like that, buy a tow hook that fits the receiver, or you can just run a strap inside and shove a pin through the hole.

This site kicks ass. Not one person flamed me for asking a rookie question!

Thanks!~

just stick the strap in the receiver and put the pin in through the loop....

If you mount a hook to one frame rail, you may tweak your frame. Your best bet in to mount a hitch and use a pin / ball mount / stinger for the hook up point.

my 06 came with a hitch with tow points welded onto it.

heres what mines looks like

Did the hitch you got fit over your spare tire? Mine doesn't clear it so it sits on the basement floor d'oh! until I need it. Think it might be the 16" tires, the spare is a little bigger...?

If you buy one for the proper truck it will fit around the tire. Those ballmount (the one off the wrecked nissan) can be bought at any trailer store.

I would not recommend putting the strap in the receiver tube and using the pin to hold it. Those pins are made to keep the ball mount from sliding out. They are not made to have a load on the center of them jerking...

When the ball mount is in the reciever, there is very little load on the pin at all, and the load that is on it, is located right where the ballmount and hitch meet with very little pressure.

Yup mine clears, I have a 16" spare and it fits with my hitch on. Sounds like the one you've got doesn't fit right.
