Been reading post here a long time great info!

Today i need help, i want to do a rear swap on my 1992 ranger built 5/92
I have an 7.5 open with 3.45 gears now (code 84)

found a 7.5 L/S with 3.73 gears out of an 1987 for $20 bucks (code F6)

After looking at my rear it has a ABS/VSS sensor on the rear axle
And a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) on the end of the cable to the the
transmission as show in the link below

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/speedometer.htm

Pretty sure i dont have abs (no sensors on wheels) but do have the dummy light on dash

if i do the swap whats with the wire? bye bye speedo? or abs?

On a '92 the sensor on the axle is for the rear ABS that came standard on all trucks starting in either '88 or '89. The sensor on the tranny I believe is just for the cruise control, not sure what else it does (the speedo itself is mechanically driven).

axle wire

thanks for reply,

My Custom came with no frills. I know there is no abs, but it does have the senor in the rear and speedo is cable driven with sensor on end before it
enters tranny I am thinking since it was a base model ford used this rear on
all models. I'll find out this weekend going to pull rear and make the swap

It will still have RABS, which is what the sensor in the differential is for.

Thanks again Sasquatch_Ryda

Swapped in the rear today .. sure enough there is a rabs on left rail next to fuel filter. Doubt it ever worked.

Got my butt out at 630 this morning, went right in, I had pulled my backing
plates ( lines shoes and all) for a fast swap
Only thing i needed was to change the pinion flange ( donnor was a 4x4)

Then #$% bleeder valves frozen! and of course snapped off
Day over wife works Saturday, On baby duty :(
Off to pick up 2 need lines and cylinders tomorrow

Should i change the brake line from rear split valve all the way to master ?
leave rabs alone or remove rab and short line with 2 unions?
