I want to do a SOA conversion on my 94 Explorer sport. I will be pulling the rear off the truck and having gears put, could have the guy weld in perches while the rear is off the truck? If so should they be in line with the old ones?
Thanks for any info.

Yes they are inline with the stock mounts. HOWEVER, you will need to check the pinion angle before welding the mounts on.

You want the pinion pointing up degrees=t-case output pointing down degrees.

If tranny is downward at 4*, you want pinion pointing up at 4*.

Someone else may have a differing opinion. That's how i did mine.

Then i mounted my shocks at the upper mount and arranged my lower mount by that.

On explorer sport I think 4* sounds ok, I do know on supercab rangers it needs to be around 6*.

Here's my SOA on my 1991 Explorer Sport. It uses all the stock hardware, including the spring perches. I literally spent $0 on it. I bolted the stock shocks onto the old swaybar mounts, and they articulate nicely.
