Rear signal trouble

My 2000 Ranger has brake lights that double as my turn signal...When my lights are on, the bulb works....brake light and turn signal does not. I swapped bulbs, nothing. don't know enough electrical...anyone have any solutions? would like to avoid costly labor....

do you hear clicking from the turn signal relay in the fuse block if the lights are working it is that or the switch normally.

Did you put the right style 3157 dual filament bulb in?
