Rear Seal Leak?

so how do i tell if its the main seal by cleaning the drivers side? wont it leak down through the bell housing then out the bottom?? im lost

I thought you had the 2.3 but I think you have the 3.0?

The oil pressure sensor will sometimes leak and it's on the drivers side of the engine (may still be on your engine too), so I figured if you sprayed that side of the engine well you would be better able to MAKE SURE it was the rear main. Sometimes a leak there will appear to be a rear main seal leak.

I would hate for it to not be a RMS leak and you go through all that labor is all.

you guys, asking us how much its going to cost to have it done in a shop is pointless. none of us online know what show labor is in your specific areas. your best bet to get an accurate price is to just swing by a few shops and ask them what they'd charge. they can give you an over the counter quote and it'll take all of 5 minutes.

On a 3.0? more likely oil pan rear seal than main seal. If the oil is running down on the outside of the inspection plate, it is NOT the main seal. If it is coming out the bottom of the bell housing, it IS the main seal.

ok ya im goin to check today go to town with brake cleaner drive around and try to find it thanks for the help everyone

ya i was told it might be the oil pressure sensor but i was told it was on the passenger side of the engine not the drivers side and yes it a 3L

ya so i just cleaned everything with brake cleaner and the leak is coming somewhre from the passenger side up by the manifold so im thinkgin its not the rear main seal but what is on the passenger side that would be leaking alot of oil?

Yeah, like I said, I was'nt sure if it was on the passenger or drivers side on the 3.0 but it appears to be on the rear passenger side block. It's by where you're talking about.

That's what it say in my Haynes anways. It says the right rear corner. Maybe you got lucky.

ok ya i hope i did get lucky cuz i dont have the time to not have my truck for a couple days to get the rear main seal fixed but im taking it to put it on the hoist tomorrow to fix up the oil press sensor hopin the is were the leak is from thanks for the help

Oil pressure sensor is on the passenger side about halfway or more up the block. Other than that you have the valve cover gasket up there.

No problem. I see you're in Canada huh?

I'll be right over, just buy me a 12 pack of Miller Lite! hahaha

Is it true you have to have no criminal record to enter your country? I was told that by a friend and he also said that if you lie and try to come back over here you'll get thrown in jail.

You need a DEEP oil pressure sender socket. It is a special socket. You may be able to rent one at your local parts store.
