Yes, I've read the posts that the driver side supposedly sags due to driver, gas tank, etc. That said, I'm pretty sure that isn't the case on mine since mine isn't like ANY body elses. (yeah, right) My suspension is completely stock except for the shocks which have have been replaced with like-OEM parts.

From the front it looks level. From the driver side or rear it looks like it leans. I didn't see any broken leafs or broken shackle. The OEM lift blocks and U-bolts appear to be intact.

Twisted frame? Could be. The truck has been banged up a number of times. The last time I got rear ended and that bent the bumper down. The replacement bumper looks fine.

Could it be a weak leaf spring? If I were to replace the leaf springs what do you recommend? I'm not interested in lifting it at this time (my teenager is the dailer driver) but I sure would like to soften the ride a bit.

well, as you said it's "been banged up a number of times", it might pay to take it to a frame shop and have it checked. no sense wasting time and money on parts till you know if it's the frame that is the problem or not.
just my $.02.

That's sound advice. I'm just not willing to pay to have it fixed at a body shop. If it's twisted, it's twisted and it's going to stay that way until the junkman comes to get it. But if it's the leaf springs I'm willing to fix that. I suppose I can crawl under there and check some measurements (ground to frame, ground to axle, axle to frame, etc) and see if there is any difference in the left and right sides.

We call it "Bro Lean" here out in California, AKA like a prerunner. People pay big money to get there truck to sit like you describe...

On a serious note, you could add a pair of Beltech 6400 Chevy drop shackles, it will lift the rear 1.5" anf soften the ride just a hair, and then it might sit level.

start dating fat chicks and bring her everywhere u go and it should level itself out in a couple years! haha:D

Springs could be weak. Are you the original owner? If you are then you know how it was taken care of. If you are not then the person(s) before you may have used it like a 1 ton truck. Sig says that you 190,xxx on it...if they are the original leafs from 91 it is safe to say that they are worn out. Also look into the frame mount for the shackles. They have a tendency to rust out and it is usually something that you don't see until it actually breaks.

that what u did??

HAHAHA LMAO i had to, it was open for flame:thefinger:

That and thank god his truck isn't lifted yet.....if it was he actually found a fat chick that can jump. :icon_surprised:

I think my wife of twenty something years might have something to say about that. Besides, my son is the current daily driver and I've restricted him from dating fat chicks.

my 2000 sags on the driver rear. I checked my leaf and its almost flat compared to the passenger rear which still has a curve. At 150,000 miles, it's time to replace the rear leafs with better non-ford leafs for sure...
stocks on my truck are 1100 pound leaf springs. I am upgrading to 1250's

Close inspection by Mark I Eyeball indicates that the welds on the shackle are intact and the shackle mounts to frame (hanger) look OK. The rubber bushings are all rotted. According to my measurements I took the distance between the frame and axle on the drivers side is somewhere between 1/8" and 1/4" smaller than the passenger side. This may be the smoking gun I was looking for.

So what do I replace these springs with? Deaver makes a nice set of springs for my other truck (Nissan Titan). I have the OEM 2.5" block between the axle and leaf springs (4 leafs). I wouldn't mind getting a set of springs that takes the place of the block.

Dixon Bros sells a set: http://www.dixonbrosracing.com/content/view/48/7/ but it's kind of pricey.

YES, well sometimes ya have to sneak one in...ya know lower your standards to up your average!

I apoligize for if it offended you, but go on ebay theres used leafs on there all the time for like $75.

you could get some junkyard explorer/ranger leafs and save a few bucks that way

Yes, I could go with used leafs. But I don't know jack about how to tell if a leaf spring is bad or on it's way to bad. The Deavers are starting to appeal to me.

I should have added a :) to my response about the fat chicks. I took no offense and found it funny but not ROFLMAO funny.
