I got a 97 Ranger, 6" lift, 33's, etc, etc. I have a new Warn M8000. The approach/departure angles suck so I'm thinking about mounting the winch under the bed with the cable exiting through the bumper. Have any of you done this? I'm looking for pictures and advice. Thanks:icon_welder:

I just found one on the rear of a Toyota. This was being built by Riches Machine Shop in Harrah WA.

I like how he did the bumper ends.

Just a suggestion here, but maybe get one of those receiver-hitch mounting deals, then you can just slip it in and out, and also use it on the front of you ever decide (or do have) to get a front receiver?

I put one under the front for the same reason fairing bolts to the front of the bumper. The approach angle is important to me.

I dont know if it would be practical for our trucks, but LMTV's have then center mounted under the middle of the frame and pulleys to run the same winch cable front or back. I wouldnt recommend that, but midmounting it to run only rear wouldnt be a bad idea. It would open lots of room too and have a fairlead right behind the license plate. Noone needs a plate on a trail anyways and its hid during dd duties.
