ok so i mounted two 55 watt fog lights under my bumper how should i go at wiring them up to my backup lights i was thing splice in the the back up light for the switch and run a wire from my battery and throw a relay in there what you guys think?

personally i'd relay them, and then run your trigger wire to the relay from your back up circuit.

Clicky!

where is the circuit located

I too am going to be doing the same with 2 of the lights from my old lightbar. Instead of the switch how do u hook it up. My reverse light wire is the purple with orange, do I hook that to the positive wire that would normally go to the + on the switch, then just ground the black wire?

i'm not sure what you are doing. are you wanting to be able to turn them on and off?
I would suggest a relay for sure run a wire from your batter to the relay. i'm going to put my relay back above the bumper out of cite you could throw a switch in the middle of that wire and you would be able to shut them off but you you have to have it in reverse for them to work. then splice in to ur reverse lights how ever you want and run that to the relay to tell it to connect power then run ur ground to ground and your power to ur lights at least thats how im doing but i'm going to put my switch in the wire i run from my reverse light and just put it somewhere back there so if i want to shut them off.

On mine I put a 3-position switch (SPDT center-off) that allows the aux backup lights to be Always-On, Always-Off, or On-w/Reverse.

The switch switches the relay between the backup light circuit, and an always-live hot lead. Putting the switch in the center disables the lights completely.

As an indicator I also put an LED on the lead going to the relay coil which lights up when the relay is energized.

The other two switches are for aux driving lights and fog lights that similarly can be switched on with the high-beams and the low beams (respectively).

I recall the reverse light wire on mine being black w/pink stripe, though I don't know if that'll still hold true outside of '89-'94 models.
