Rear-ended yesterday

So, I’ll throw a couple things out there…. Since I’ve been through this sort f thing before….

If you haven’t already, I would find a reputable chiropractor to go see. ERs and MedFast and the like just look for obvious damage. Chiropractors take a closer look at the actual mechanics of your body and try to get everything lined back up. I knew better but still waited a lot longer than I should have to go to a chiropractor. The first adjustment there I got a noticeable amount of relief, but it’s been a fight because things were misaligned for so long.

Dude. I feel you.

When I got rear-ended in my 2003 Tacoma 5 years ago, I felt fine for a while, if a bit shaken up.

Years later, I have chronic neck tightness and pain and wish I had fought harder for myself in that case, especially since it was a workvan for a giant cable/internet corporation that slammed into my truck at 45-50mph and then tried to nickel-and-dime me on the payout. I was so pissed at their insurance for trying to lowball me on my truck (which was also a fly-drive from Arizona and worth way more than KBB if I had wanted to sell it) and doing stunts like telling me I had to return the rental before the adjuster had even been out to total my truck, that I didn't really have much fight in me for the medical stuff, and I let it go after a few seemingly-pointless PT appointments. Big mistake. Of course, because I'm a dumb guy, it didn't even occur to me the word "chronic" applied to me until a thoughtful and astute ex pointed out how often I would compulsively roll my neck to relieve the tightness, and that the medical definition of chronic was pain lasting 30 days or more.

Subsequently, I did find a great PT who does adjustments, and was feeling really great for a while, but I feel like this recent hit, while much less severe than the previous one, has set things off again. Past few days haven't been great, so it looks like I'll be going back.

That’s how they get you, they try to make things so difficult and take so long that you just go away. Currently I’m closing on two years now of fighting over the last accident I was in and there’s no end in sight. My insurance agent even told the adjuster to just fork over the maximum and let it go. Nearly two years of pain, suffering and medical bills out the demon hole. Still dealing with chronic neck and shoulder pain along with concussion issues. Treatment has been great, but there’s only so much that can be done and I can’t help but wonder how better off I may have been if I had done things differently like see a chiropractor immediately.

Then there’s the flub up I made (because I had no idea at the time), I had been using CBD to help with an old hip injury, I found stuff that worked to keep me from getting crippled up from pain and I was using it regularly. CBD is Federally legal (but not yet legal in all states, it is in mine). Then came a concussion from an accident and I immediately stopped using the CBD which I found out later that CBD (and to a lesser extent THC) consumed within 12 hours of a concussion significantly reduces the effects of a concussion. Oops. I happened across that bit of information published by a medical college that did a study, but way after the concussions.
