Good eve,

I have 88 Ranger 2.9 reg cab 2 wheel drive. I have a very defined squeak that seems to come from u joint area at rear end. Squeak is louder at slower mph and loudest just before stopping. Squeak is not in the rear brakes. Just wondering if squeaking could be a sign of bad u joints or is it deeper in rear end.

Thanks.

Thanks Richard,

Any tips on ujoint replace? Is it shade tree benchwork or should I get a shop to do it?

Not trying to be rude but, I'd get my ass under the truck and check for a bad u-joint instead of asking someone hundreds of miles away what it could "possibly" be. Check for play in the D-shaft and if there is, grab a u-joint and slap it in.
