Hi to all. I found an 8.8 trac-loc from a 99-00 mazda for 40 dollars the truck has 90k on it. I am going to put it in my 00 xlt 4x4 but am wondering about the clutches in the diff. Is there any way to tell if they are bad this truck is in a junk yard so i cant ask the previous owner anything. I have read the articles pretaining to the clutch rebuild but maybe i missed something. i have put rears in before and dont fear the set up but have never rebuilt a trac-lock so just wanted to ask to see if there where any sure tell signs. Any info would be of great help since i am going to pull it on saturday and if i need anything i would like to get it pryor to then . Thanks

If it has more than 100 miles on it then the clutch pack will need rebuilding. Every one of the LSD I had were near useless. I even did the different pattern of installing the clutches and steels.

Check if the axles have a lot of end play. As the clutches wear, the endplay increases.

Thanks will check the end play .
