Is it really necessary to run the backing plate/dust shield? Brakes in question are a Crown Vic set for my Ranger. It will be using the parking brake as well. Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, the parking brake assy and the backing plate are one...

The crown vic dust shield protects the parking brake only.

The large flimsy sheet metal shield on the explorer brakes it best at holding gravel IN against the rotors than keeping shit away.

I jokingly refer to the Crown Vic dustshields as "bikini" dust shields.

Could you start a thread with pics on this swap PLEASE?

I have thought bout the CrownVic swap on my 92 Explorer axle, as the X-cop car CrownVics are plentiful around here......:icon_idea::icon_thumby:

THANKS!!!

You do know that since you have an exp axle, that the disc brakes from a 95+ exp axle is direct bolt in swap minus your master cylinder...
