Can I get disc brakes from the front of a ranger, mount them on the rear with the dust shields on opposite sides of stock so the caliper is on the front? Will this work, or cause bigger problems down the road?

No, you can't just use front rotors and mount them on the rear. However, there is multiple ways of gaining rear disc brakes. Search!

IN the tech section there's a disc brake conversion write up. I found it quite useful and plan on doing it as soon as I find the money and time lol
