Rear disc brake soft lines?

Hello,

Im converting my 1994 Splash to rear disc brakes, and I've run into a soft line issue. I utilized a disc setup from a 1994 Mustang, and the soft lines provided with that axle seem a bit too short. I then purchased lines for a 1999 Mustang, and they are too long and the RH hard line portion smacks right into the leaf packs....I really dont want to use special adapters (too many joints makes an unsafe brake system, and finding available replacements a nightmare) and I have no welding skills to speak of. I've looked at some of the conversions posted here and other sites, but the soft lines are either not photo'd well or are custom lines uses with exotic to me (ie AN) adapters...suggestions? TIA,

BSG

Know what length you need and stand at the parts counter comparing different vehicles with yours in hand.
I've done that.

You could try cross referencing the calipers from stang to exploder to see if they match. If they do then you're in luck.

Hello again,

First, THANK YOU for your replies...I tried a couple ideas and they didnt work exactly to my specifications (hey, why take chances with brakes?). The 1997 Explorer lines would be sorta ok, but I would still need to make a joint attached to the rear axle for the line to sit out of harms way, and I discovered the banjo fitting is perhaps a mm too small for my fitting screws, so rather than mess them up I will return them. I also tried bending my original Mustang lines to see if that would work, but the left side is a bit of a problem, since the shock is right where I need the hard/soft line joint. Consequently, though I dont know how to weld, I will ask a friend of mine to weld tabs for the line joints as shown with the Currie brake line kit listed in the forum where I first researched the conversion. I believe that will solve my soft line issue, and I again greatly appreciate the ideas everyone posted...this site rocks!

It will be a little more expensive (as in $30 to $60) but you can have lines made to your specs. Call a couple hydraulic shops they will either make a line or tell you who can make them. The shop has to have a certain certification in order to make automotive brake lines so not everyone can do it.

A rear caliper hose SHOULD be short. With a connecting hard line to the main brake hose.

This is the driver side of my explorer axle. It incorp. the caliper AND vertical hose for the driver side.
