Im deciding that im going to be removing my std cab & installing a extended cab. Are the rear extended cab mount brackets that are welded/riveted to the frame sitting at the same height as the front cab brackets? Im aslo going to be extending my frame as I want to keep the long bed. This will be a long project due to time & funds. I know I can do it cause I converted my 76 F250 std cab into a Crew cab about 15 yrs ago & extended the frame on that as well.

Don't know if this helps, but the rear cab mounts on my trailer are like this:

I believe the frames are different between the extended cabs and the regular cabs. You make have to adjust the body mount accordingly after the cab is set on the frame.

The frames are different...The standard cab frame starts to raise just behind the body mount, it is possible to use an X-cab body on a standard cab frame, but a body lift is required to do it. We in the offroad community do this often for a shorter wheelbase but with a bigger cab for more interior room. You can extend the frame just behind the body mount so you don't have to do a BL, and then again at the end of the frame for the bed, or do the BL, or just swap in an X-cab frame...

^^^What he said. Several people I know tried to do this and one guy did it after a lot of fab work...only problem was he was not happy with the conversion after it was done. He build it for his son. He kept having problems with things coming loose after the frame stated to warp a bit later. He is a custom fabricator and has been doing welding work since he was 13 with his dad's shop. He took an old F-100 once and turned it into a crewcab and he said that was so easy to do. I saw that one and I loved the work!! He told me he thought the Ranger would be a lot easier to do since it is smaller. He told me he would rather stay with the big boy toys and stay away from the smaller compact trucks....lol

That's what I figured I was going to have to be doing.

I have the back frame section from a 87 Bronco II from about 10" in front of the front fuel tank cross member ,PO had a plasma cutter instead of doing each rivet to remove front & back tank cross members he cut the frame rails & was going to remove the body mount brackets from it & use for the rear body mounts for the extended cab.

While i'm doing it I will be installing a body lift just not sure if its going to be 2" or 3" ,that will be determined by how much space i need under the bed to fit the Bronco II 23 gal rear tank.

The frame that the X-body is on is a 98 ,so totally different front suspension & besides as I mentioned I WANT to keep the 7ft bed due to hauling & camping space & I also have a nice raised roof canopy that im not wanting to get rid of, & a camper & a ladder rack
