I have a brake problem,

1988 Ranger XLT
2.9L V6
2WD
Auto Tran - A4LD

I had my truck parked for over a year. I recently got it going again. Drove it around the block and everything was great. I parked it in the driveway. The next time I got into drive it, I reversed out, put it into drive and it felt as if the parking brake was on.

Strange it didnt effect me going in reverse, or braking in reverse. Only going forward it is like this.

Any thoughts on how this could happen, and any fixes?

The tranny fluid is good. I havent checked the brakes yet, It is currently on the street so I dont want to pull the wheels off without knowing what im getting into.

Maybe ill just reverse it around the block and pull it into the driveway! haha!

Check your parking brake cables aren't seized. Grab each and giggle them around to see if they'll free up.

Well, I ended up crawling under the truck, wiggle the brake wires, heard a click, and now the brakes are free!!!

Must have jsut sat tooo long. Thanks for all the help!!

You're probably going to need to replace those, or they'll do it again. They rub through on the frame / wherever and end up rusting inside.

Glad you got it fixed up.
