I noticed my local auto store carries both in their loan a tool service.

I need to remove both the seal and the bearing on the rear of my 2wd 94 ranger.

Which one do I need?

rear axle bearing puller

I've always used a length of pipe, pull both axles and carrier, then slip it through and pop everything out.
It works for me because if I have to replace something, I'm going to tear down and inspect everything whenever I have to open it up.

For my two cents, if I pulled a bearing with a hammer, I would consider it junk!!
