why is my rear antilock light on? as far as I can tell the brakes work fine. I don't have a clue as to why it comes on at all. it comes on shortly after I start my truck and stays on until I shut it off.

You need to replace the ABS wheel sensor (or have the brakes replaced, usually its the ABS sensor). The ABS system is suppose to "pulse" when you stomp on the breaks. Just cause it doesnt do this, doesnt mean your brakes arent working. The ABS is designed to help with control during panic braking. If your wheels are locked up during braking, they are just sliding (especially on the fronts) which equals no control or steering (front) or slide (rear). get it to a shop or find the parts and fix yourself (some of them can be a real PITA).

The light is on because nobody has thrown the bulb in the trash yet.
