I seem to have a rear wheel locking up. I do not have an ABS light. but I know it is a rear wheel.

I have been searching the forum for a similar issue, I have seen a couple articles entitled "RABS". I do not know if this is related.

I have checked the brakes and the fluid. Any suggestions?

RABS is Rear Anti Lock Brakes System, and is mostly on the 2wd models.

usually the vehicle has regular ABS in front or has 4WABS.

it may be a regular brake issue and not an ABS issue.

this is where it gets tricky too :icon_thumby:

the 4WABS is only active in two wheel drive, if you can believe it, and both wheels act as one solid unit if the ABS is working. if you have 4 wheel drive, try engaging it and see if your wheel is still locked up. next, you should have a "plug" located on ther top of your rear diff. unhook it and see if it's mucky/dirty and clean it out then re-attach it using some dielectric grease.

from there you should be pulling off the wheel and looking at your rear brakes, and the ebrake setup

As mentioned, it could be a seized e brake cable. To check, pull off the drum and just pop the cable off the lever its hooked to. If they no longer lock up, the cable needs to be replaced.

you are completely correct. forgot about that cable! they tend to......shall we say, not cooperate....alot!
easy to replace though.

When you say "ebrake", are you talking about the "parking brake"? I have noticed that the pedel does not fully disengage when I release it.

Thanx for the tips I am going to check it out as soon as it stops storming.

yes...emergency brake....or parking brake. six of one, 1/2 a dozen the other :D

i would check the ebrake setup and regular brakes before going into ABS issues.
