Does anybody make speaker enclosure add-ons for the stock rear speakers? I recently replaced the stock speakers and have noticed that the rear speakers do not have any bass, but the fronts kick pretty good. I am guessing that the door is acting as a decent enclosure; whereas the rear is simply a plastic cover that is not sealed-off from the front of the speaker. I am not looking to add subwoofers or amplifiers.......just gain a decent sounding stock-location speaker set-up. Has anybody tried the foam baffles in these locations? If so, how did they work-out?

Thanks,
Wayne

I have a set of Pioneers... I think other companies make them too. They say right on the box "Custom fit for Ford/Mazda".

I installed the 6X8 pioneer speakers, which are stamped direct fit for Ford / Mazda. No problems with fitment. I just noticed a big difference in sound quality between the rear and front speakers, which I am guessing is due to the difference in how the speaker is enclosed. I am trying to find a way to better enclose the rear speakers. Thanks for the response though!!

Yeah just putting speakers in that weird shaped enclosure doesn't do much to help them sound good. See if you can put some foam or Dynamat type material back there and it should help some.

I actually need to do that too, come to think of it...

i saw little enclosures for doors before. There fit for whatever speakers im pretty sure the ones i saw are made of foam and just get mushed into the open hole to fill it then the speaker goes in ontop of it. I cant seem to find them now tho, maybe someone else can

i know they make plastic ones for this app. im not sure a thin piece of closed cell foam would really do anything.

my two cents

find something like that, that is nice an sturdy and a few sizes to big and give it alil stuffing.it will stop the speaker cone from viberating to much and give it alil more bass

or make your own

get some thick 1/4 or 1/2 inch closed cell foam, and make it into a dome to fit behind the speaker then glue a cotton layer about one inch thick
:headbang:

Where can I find the plastic versions you mention? Do you have a link? Thanks!!

iv seen them at walmart and pepboys. i knwo nothing of there quality just made a mental note of them

well did you mount them in the actual hole or did you just bolt it on top of the stock plastic enclosure?

They actually bottom mount to the plastic speaker grill, which then mounts to the back-wall panel. I mounted them the same way the factory speakers were mounted.

good cause that makes a lot of difference, just keep movin em around and see which one sounds the best...thats what i did
