So, with my mind going back and forth all night at work. I think I have came to the conclusion im going button my ranger up and keep it as the camping rig. and not beat the life out of it.
So, that leaves me with out a rig to "have fun" and not worry about driving It home. Going to be using a lot of what I all ready have.
A 2.3, 8.8 and some tubing / suspension bit and some other odds and ends.
Right now, idk what I want to do with the t case and front axle.
A 2.3 is driver drop,I don't want to go to a f/w axle and shorting one and custom axles is going to blow my budget out of the water. So its eater a dana 30 or maybe getting a divorced trans and rig something up.
My goal is cheap/light/fun as possible.

also guys with some rbv buggies post them up. Looking for some ideals.

excuse the bad grammer, 10 hr nights aint fun. lol

I've been kicking something like this around for a few years since I got a Ranger with a bad frame. I have a mostly solid regular cab, 2.3, 5-speed trans, and the front half of the frame. I did have a D-30 axle until some local low-life stole it for scrap.

I've come up with a number of ideas for it but never really fully worked anything out since I have not had the time or money to devote to it yet though. Mostly I was thinking of building a tube rear frame, run some tube doors, disk brake 8.8 with the D-30 front and some alloy shafts, run at least a doubler (Gwaii's crazy Ranger has me thinking along other lines though), and do leaf springs front and rear - think elliptical.

sounds like you have enough of an idea to just do it to me.:dunno:

do it, get it done.:icon_thumby:

I think there are a few of us bouncing these ideas around. I have a mildly built 2.8L that I'm thinking about doing it with, or course then "engine bay" will be built for bigger. Personally I think I'll build more to dune buggy style, and street legal. There's just no place to really use a rock buggy or truggy style build around here.

Main issue I'm running into is that I think I want 4WD (maybe even AWD) and independent suspension on both ends. Rear IRS is easy, getting a a-arm style front to work is going to take some studying.

Me or the OP?

I know I have enough of an idea to move forward, I've put more thought into it than some of the other stuff I've done, but I really need to get my F-150 and choptop finished up first, since both of them are on the road. My 88 BII and truggy have to take a back seat right now.
