when drving there is a bad rattling noise when accelerating or cruising at a constant speed, but once i let off the gas tha rattling stops. the speedometer also seems sway between about a 4mph area of whatever speed im going. i already know the shifter bushing is shot but when i hold the shifter it still rattles, so is it possible that speedometer gear on the trans is some how causing this rattling?

Possible, but doubtful. The speedo drive gear is plastic. I kinda doubt it could make a noise loud enough to be heard over road noise.

well the only other thing i could think of is the speedometer cable, i had one that rattled pretty bad and it was noticeable. i just havent had the time to look over it, it doesnt have insurance right now and its 15 miles from the shop

Pull the gear out and check it. Its not a lot of work. The cable could cause both of those problems too though.
