I have a 1993 Ranger 2WD with a 1997 Explorer rear end. I installed my explorer axle without flipping the spring pads.I want to lift the rear by 3-4 inches without using shackles. I have a pair of 2" shackles under there and I am not happy with the wheel hop. I do not want to flip the spring pads if i dont have to also I was told by a Auto tech allumni that leaving the sprung under setup would be better for handling. Bottom line question: is there a way to give my ranger a proper 3-4 inch lift in the rear by using the GM 64 inch springs, or are there any other setups I can use other than aftermarket.. Note: I do not have the explorer Uni-leaf, it is the standard leaf spring pack.

Thanks for reading!

You need to go overaxle.... The reason it would handle better is because your lower. and if you concerned with handling why do you want to lift it? Bottom line is the best way to lift it is to flip the pads.

And if you are going to do the Chevy leaf spring mod you are going to have to take move some spring hangers around. IMO, just get aftermarket springs or flip the axle. Easiest way to lift.

Extended shackles are not the reason why you have axle wrap (Wheel Hop) and as stated above, do SOA. When I did my explorer axle swap I did SOA and I didn't have axle wrap. You may have a set of weak/worn springs...

just run the gm 64in leafs. get them re-arched first tho. if thats not high enough get longer shackles like these. im looking for some leafs myself as you can see in the pic its sitting maybe 2 inches above the bumper on the frame.

sorry but wrong, theres a reason why everyone on springs in the desert runs SUA instead of SOA. true advantage to running SUA is the decrease in axle wrap, your moving the axle from a position of leverage pushing against the spring and the front of the arch to a position where it has less leverage on the spring and must fight more of the springs arch in order to deflect.
