My boss sold a Fifth Wheel camper go a guy with a 2002 Ranger. I (since I am the only parts dude right now) ordered the correct hitch parts.... So here it is...

I had to leave as I was taking these pics in order to get to my second job, so I did not get to see how well it towed it.

 that's great...:icon_thumby: i would have never guessed that a ranger could pull one, guess you learn something new everyday..

Looks like a slide-in with wheels on it. They go out of their way to make those things ugly with a capitol U.

Did you guys cut down the rails or do they make them that short?

Still kind of looks funny in a Ranger bed, but it looks like it'll tow it fine lol.

I've pondered putting in a gooseneck hitch with a scaled down trailer for my Ranger since I find myself towing so much crap everywhere, and I don't even own a trailer lol.

Me too. I've got a few designs in mind--I'd post them but my computer died and I'm on my wife's Mac. I'm like a blind faggot at a weenie roast on this thing. I'd like a scaled down deckover 80" wide--with 3 axles and those little 20" heavy duty tires so the deck is still low. I plan to be able to haul my 6,000# little dozer with it, and 80" lets you haul a fullsize pickup. And the hitch height would be enough that I could hook it too my skoolie when I needed to haul the Ranger somewhere without needing a deep-drop drawbar.

some day id love to get a SCAMP. their fifth wheel looks decent, has all the luxuries of larger and more expensive trailers (all the ones id want anyway), it only weighs about 2K unloaded, and plus it just looks right at home behind a ranger:

I've looked into those before, and would love to have one but then I wouldn't be able to haul my quad. I'd only tow one with tandem axles though, as I find single axle trailers, even smaller light ones much more unstable (especially behind a lifted truck) then a tandem.

a single axle is easier to turn, especially while backing...and ive never had a problem with stability in a single axle trailer that was properly set up.

Little utility trailers aren't an issue, I find a lot of purpose built trailers are never balanced properly and don't tow worth crap. Either way, I'm screwed towing a 5th wheel so I'm stuck with Bumper pulls and slide in's.

Nope... Valley makes a "Small Pickup" kit that will work with Ford Ranger (83-2009) and Dodge Dakotas. They make no mention of it fitting a S-10.

Turned out nice. Glad I ordered the right stuff cause the dude drove in from another state and we did the hitch and he left all in the same day.

Nice job!!! Can you do anything with weight equalization with a 5th-wheel hitch?
