Hey all, posting this for a friend (he's going to become a new TRS member soon!). Anyways, he has an 89 Ranger, 2.9L, 4x4, A4LD, etc. He did some light wheeling and after coming back in to town, he noticed that on sharp turns, usually when turning left, the passenger side tire somewhat lifts and "hops" up and down, and skids on the ground. It doesn't seem to be spinning very well and it just locks up. This usually only happens when it's in four wheel drive, however, it also does occur when it's in 2WD and it is at slow speeds (10MPH or less). Here's what we have checked/think it could be:
Broken leaf spring/shackle - No
Bent/broken axle shaft - No
We are thinking it has something to do with the rear end, maybe a broken tooth or something on the gears. It has a 3.73, Open Diff, Ford 7.5 rear.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
