ranger valve rattle

i think its a valve rattle but not sure its a 93 4cyl 5speed. when the motors at a normal rpm and a bog it will rattle like crazy. is this bad gas or a timming off or just a bent valve thanks Melvin

Shouldn't be a bent valve and timing wont make it rattle that bad...i dont think! My 92 clatters real bad and has been getting worse and it does it at a bog (which almost all standards will do) and at around 2700 rpms. Mine is doing it due to valve needing to be adjusted.

Drop the oil pans and check the oilpump pickup tube. They are more than likely plugged up with crap. Clean those out or replce them and the noise should go away unless the damage is already done.
