Just a FYI. I was interested in the new Maverick and took my ‘19 Ranger XLT to the dealer where I bought it to see about ordering one. Long story short, they offered me $1500 more than I paid for my Ranger almost 2 years ago. I was a bit shocked, but it made me curious too. So, I went on Carvana and got an offer from them. Their offer was almost $7000 dollars more than I paid for my Ranger. Well, they are picking up the truck on Monday and now I will be ordering a completely loaded Maverick Lariat now instead of an XLT and paying cash for it. Used truck prices are crazy right now.

Yes, the new vehicle stock is not just low its almost non-existant because of the backlog of the electronic chips needed for all the equipment
Car makers all over the world cancelled orders for new computers/electronics because they thought sales would drop in 2020 because of Covid, they didn't and in fact sales went up
But the chip factories closed down or switched to making other types of chips

I like the Maverick size vs the New Ranger, crew cab is suppose to be 200", old Ranger extended cab was 200"
Bed is only 4.5ft but fine for my uses

If it comes in RED I may get one, the red I saw was to orangy for my taste

The towing and payload capacity of the new Ranger (especially over the Mav) almost makes it worth the price, but I'm afraid I'll just never be able to accept that new Rangers cost north of $30,000 for a base model. Even more hard to swallow when salaries have remained stagnant for decades.

Production is scheduled to start on the 2nd week of August. But as RonD said, the chip shortage could have something to say about that.

The size difference between the old Ranger and the 2019+ is so minor that it is almost unnoticeable to me but there is a difference.

If the Maverick meets your needs, more power to you.

I hope the model does well, there is a definite lack for a true small truck, even if it’s a FWD based unit body. I did well with an SUV designed that way for a good number of years.

I picked my dad up from the hospital today and took a different exit off the local interstate which takes me past a long-time Chevy dealer. There were virtually no new vehicles on their lot. Empty.

Agreed. The new Rangers look bigger, mostly because the overall height and the bed rail height is taller..

That would slot the old Ranger right under the new Ranger in line-up sizes, and the new Maverick would slot right under the old Ranger.. Car companies these days seem to want to fill any void. Look at this SUV size comparison for 3 ford models. 0.6" difference in wheelbase from Expo to Edge.

I recently traded in my 2011. It was a 4.0L manual with 157k miles extended cab Sport (the highest back then). It was a reliable unit but aged. KBB in early 2020 listed that vehicle as about 3500k trade in at then 140k miles. By May of this year, it was UP to 6500k on KBB with 156k miles! The dealership I got my 2021 Ranger from ended up giving me $9000 for trade in for a 10yr old truck with 157k miles and manual!

In September 2019, when we paid cash for our new Ranger, the dealer bought our super clean 2002 Tacoma TRD 4wd for $8,000. That's a 17 year old truck with 172,000 miles, it was a manual too....
