Ranger transmission replacement wont shift

ok, after some interesting hours I have put a replacement transmission in my ranger, the whole thing is together, its bled, but I dont seem to be able to shift, its acting as if I am in gear, and it wont let me come out of it.

I have yet to start it BTW

It seems to be in first if that matters
