I had a guy contact me wanting to trade his 1995 F-150, for my 1993 Ranger.

He has a single cab, long bed. I-6, 5spd, 4WD

Thoughts" Opinions?

Also, if I trade to a F-150, would I still be allowed to hang out at TRS? lol

I would take that trade if the f150 is in good shape.

I guess I should have chimed in on the trade. I know that 4.9 I6 is a great motor. I would trade as well if it is in good shape and you are OK with the reduction in mpg's. It likes gas more than your 2.3 does.

Here's a picture of the possible trade.

Not a bad looking f 150.

What condition is your Ranger compared to this truck?

What are the issues this truck is having?

Why does he want to trade, and if there is a trade, is it a straight "your truck for his truck" or is there also cash involved?

Looks pretty decent. I would be leery of how the paint is faded more on the hood and fender though. That is a possible sign of a wreck, which may mean frame damage. Check it over really well.

My Ranger needs the A/C compressor, condenser, and lines. Needs a windshield, and the fuel gauge does not work.

The F-150 needs paint, and has 195,000 on the odometer. and a small dent under headlight. Has new spark plugs air filter, plug wires, fuel filter, and fuel pump.

It's a 17 yr old high school kid who can't afford the fuel for his 30 mile one way trip to school. (Kid's Dad is aware, and participating in any transaction.)

He is specifically looking for a Ranger because he's a huge Ford fan.

I'd love to have an I6 5spd 4x4 reg cab long box  Looks like it's in pretty decent condition. Go look it over and drive it, if most everything seems alright, I'd be all over that trade if I was you :icon_thumby:

I'd do the trade as well, unless you are most commuting, in with case, a manual 2.3L 2WD is the best option.

What's going to make this kids day is when he finds out your ranger gets 2-3 more mpg than that truck.

2-3 mpg difference, going from a 4.9l F150 to a 2.3l Ranger?

that doesn't seem right...

Do some searching, it isn't as big of a difference like people think it is.

LOL, yeah more like 7-9 mpg better. I went from a 3.0 auto 2wd w/ the 20 gal tank to a 2.3 manual 2wd w/ the standard 16 Gal tank and notice a BIG difference! I even have a slightly longer/higher range with the 4 banger and smaller tank!!

I've seen it quoted at between 6-9 mpg better, but maybe I looked in the wrong places?
