Just a quick question:

How hard is it going to be to install an aftermarket tachometer in a 1997 2.3L Supercab 5spd Ranger? I read the instructions and it says something about removing the dash and connecting up to the Powertrain Control Module or something like that...it seems like an awful lot of trouble and seems like it might cause more problems than necessary.

Is there some other way to do this? Does anybody know of an alternative tach. that is easier to install than that? Maybe a link to it?

Thanks

its not hard at all, the powertrain plug is located under your hood on the passenger side of the engine compartment in the rear, it is a pretty big plug i'd say about four inches long or so but in that cluster of wires there is i think but not positve a yellow wire with a brown line that is the one i hooked my tach up to in my 99 ranger with the 2.5 i dont know if it is the same but it might be.

I put a tach in my '96 dash by replacing the instrument console with a 4wd one. Looks factory, no screwed up or exposed wiring.
