I was wondering if a BW4405 transfer case from a 1997 Explorer would work in a 2000 Ranger with a BW1354 transfer case. They both bolt up to the same transmission but I was wondering if the electronics would work and if the truck would then be AWD. Thanks for any help.

That's what I found, but I was wondering if the electronics would have an issue.

there may be wiring issues as the 4405 has an internal clutch that allows for awd on the road, and it's controlled by a gcm. not sure about how that would all wire up to your truck. also, the "neutral" position on it is a dealer installed item. sounds strange, but apparently true.
